Let’s get into the nitty gritty of how it works and what you get out of having an editor on your team through this membership.
As a member, let’s say you want blog posts edited. You can send me every blog post you write for your clients or for your own blog throughout the month to get them edited. (Yes! Unlimited!)
We use Google docs for sending documents back and forth, so you simply tag me in the margins when you have one ready, I get the notification and acknowledge it’s been received, and within just a few days I look it over, give feedback and make changes when I catch any spinach (always with the suggesting feature so you can reject or accept all edits) and send it back to you polished and ready to be published.
That’s how it works👆🏼 Now here’s what editing actually looks like.
I look at everything, down to an extra space between sentences. Spelling, punctuation, grammar, capitalization, italics, verb tense. All the way to language style, tone, reading level, word choice, consistency, and repetitiveness.
I go through each piece with the goal and purpose in mind. I get to know your audience and each of your clients. And as I support you, I get to know your voice, writing style, and each of your unique writing quirks and preferences.
I pop each of your projects into a plagiarism checking software and let you know if anything gets flagged, and I get the readability score for each piece so you know where you’re coming in at for reading level and ease.
I check your links are going to the right places and what you pulled from the source is accurately typed.
And of course, each of my members are different when it comes to their feedback preferences. Some want more suggestions or thoughts, while others want more of the proofreading. They have a lot of content or copy going out and just want to have a fresh set of eyes to catch mistakes. It’s completely up to you how deep you want the editing and proofreading on your content and copy to be.

Do you offer a sample edit?
Yes, I do! I offer a sample edit of 1,000 words or less. Just reach out if you’d like one! This can be a great way to get a feel for my editing.
What’s your turnaround time?
My turnaround time is 1-3 days for projects near 2,000 words or less. Longer projects may take some more time, but typically my members receive their edited work within that 1-3 days. Since launching the Confidently Clean Copy Membership in April of 2023, my longest turnaround has been 3 days!
*However*, as a busy business owner and full-time mama, I can’t always get to things right away. So while a turnaround time of 1-3 days is what I always strive to provide for my members, it’s not a guarantee that I make.
Is there a word limit?
No word limit!
Prior to creating the membership, I saw this gap between hiring an editing professional — on an hourly rate or per word — and popping everything into a grammar checker. I thought about how I could bridge the gap and provide affordable editing support to the business owners and writers who want and need it, while making it an easeful editing process. This is what the Confidently Clean Copy Membership accomplishes, and part of what makes it an easeful editing process is throwing word count out the window. I don’t want to be keeping track of word count and neither do you! That’s why I don’t place a cap on word count.
What if there’s another content or copy silo I create more than the three categories offered?
We can create a custom membership that suits your needs. The primary three are offered because they’re typically the largest silos my clients need support in. But I’m happy to support you with another type of content or copy if it’s important to your business!
Do you use style guides?
Yes! An integral part of my editing process is keeping client style guides.
Knowing your voice, preferences, and writing style is key to being a good editor, and truly ensuring that the work I do on your content and copy is aligned with the way you yourself write.
Keeping track of details on a style guide, dedicated to you alone, helps me make sure I’m following all of your preferences and upholding consistency throughout every project.
Some of the details I stow away:
⚪ Style manual of choice (i.e. CMoS, AP, etc.)
⚪ Voice and tone
⚪ Reading level
⚪ Rules you prefer to break (or -isms you’re ok with)
⚪ Your fervor for the Oxford Comma (or your detestation)
⚪ Writing quirks you wish for me to keep a close eye on (e.g. dropping words, overuse of ‘that’)
⚪ Helpful client and TA information, with links to client websites or past publications
⚪ Purpose of the content or copy for each of your clients
⚪ Prompts or requests from your clients (e.g. a word limit we need to be aware of)
